JPJ shifts enforcement focus from fines to road safety compliance

The Road Transport Department (JPJ) will no longer set key performance indicators (KPIs) for the number of summonses issued by its enforcement officers.
Speaking during the JPJ monthly gathering on Friday (April 3), JPJ Director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli said the focus will shift to improving compliance and road safety, with officers assessed on the effectiveness of operations and safety outcomes rather than fines.
Patrols, monitoring, and preventive measures will now be prioritised, in line with the Transport Ministry’s strategy to enhance road safety impact.
