Jordan moves to protect 2,000-year-old olive trees

In Jordan's Maysar region, north of Amman, the ancient al-Mihrass olive trees have stood for thousands of years. In 2025, UNESCO added al-Mihrass to its Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Today, local communities are working to protect these rare trees as their numbers continue to decline.
