Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said on a video aired on Aug 28 that Iran's exports and imports had fallen by between 25% and 35%, pointing to the figures as evidence of the impact of sanctions on the country's economy.

Pezeshkian said Iran had exported nearly 90 million barrels of oil during a brief period when restrictions on its exports were eased, but said Tehran was no longer able to maintain those sales.

The United States held off further negotiations to finalise the memorandum of understanding on ending its conflict with Iran and unleashed Operation Economic Outcast on the Iranian regime.
