Increase in KTM Komuter’s northern sector ridership a good sign, says minister

After taking a ride on the KTM Komuter train from Butterworth to Bukit Mertajam in Penang on Wednesday, Transport Minister Anthony Loke told reporters that the northern sector of the train service involving the Butterworth, Padang Besar and Bukit Mertajam stations had seen an increase of 7% in ridership from 10,480 to 11,224 commuters.

He said the train service had improved whereby the new train frequency had increased from 26 to 36 trips a day.
