Health Ministry still investigating cause of death of Indian detainee

The Health Ministry has said that it is still investigating the cause of death of an Indian national who died in Immigration custody.

The man had been treated for Covid-19 at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS) before he was discharged, said Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah on Monday.

The 67-year-old man, who has been identified as Zeawdeen Kadar Masdar, died at the Bukit Jalil Immigration Detention Centre on June 12.

The man was classified as the 121st death from the disease in the country.

Dr Noor Hisham said that the man showed no symptoms while being treated in MAEPS, but had co-morbidities such as high blood pressure and diabetes.
