Haze: Areas with API above 500 to be declared under emergency, says S'wak Deputy Premier

Areas in Sarawak recording Air Pollutant Index (API) readings of 500 and above will be declared disaster areas by the National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma), says Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas.

Speaking to reporters after chairing the Sarawak State Disaster Management Committee meeting in Kuching on Monday (Aug 31), Uggah, who is also the committee chairman, said the declaration would apply only to the affected areas and not the entire state.
