Govt should allow six-month grace period for individuals to settle debt before bankruptcy

Jelebu MP Datuk Jalaluddin Alias on Tuesday proposed that the government should allow a six-month “cooling period” for individuals to settle their outstanding debts within the newly proposed minimum debt threshold from RM50,000 to RM100,000.

He said this while debating the Temporary Measures for Government Financing (Coronavirus Disease 2019 Covid-19) Bill 2020 for its second reading in the Dewan Rakyat.
