Govt continues servicing legacy debt including 1MDB's, seeks to reduce new borrowing, says Anwar

The government continues to shoulder debt obligations inherited from previous administrations, including liabilities linked to 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB), while working to reduce its reliance on new borrowing, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

He said the approach forms part of efforts to strengthen public finances while maintaining funding for development and essential services.
