Flooding during the 2026/2027 Northeast Monsoon is expected to be less severe than the 2021 disaster, with minimal impact forecast.

However, National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) director-general Datuk Meor Ismail Meor Akim urged the public not to become complacent, saying that areas that rarely experience floods were of particular concern because residents and response agencies might be less prepared to deal with sudden flooding.

MetMalaysia's Maqrun Fadzli Mohd Fahmi said the department monitors weather conditions daily and issues heavy rain warnings one to three days in advance when necessary.
