The recent increase of some 40% in commuters using the city's public transport is a positive sign of economic recovery, says Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz.

The Finance Minister said this after more than 62,000 registrations for the My30 unlimited passes for use on Prasarana Malaysia Bhd's transportation network in the Klang Valley were recorded since its launch on June 15.

Zafrul said that after a working visit to Prasarana Malaysia Berhad headquarters on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Prasarana chief operating officer Muhammad Nizam Alias said they would be introducing a new discount pass on Wednesday to encourage the use of public transport among tourists and non-holders of My30 pass.

The MyCity pass is offered at a 50 per cent discount for one-day and three-day travel fare at RM5 and RM15 respectively.
