'Father of animation' Hassan Abdul Muthalib receives Merdeka Award

Hassan Abdul Muthalib, widely regarded as the “father of Malaysian animation” was honoured with the 2018 Merdeka Award for his contribution to the industry and for having directed the country’s first animated feature film. The Merdeka Award is an annual award ceremony founded by Petronas, ExxonMobil and Shell to recognise individuals and organisations whose works and achievements have contributed to the nation’s growth and inspired greatness in the people of Malaysia.
