The U.S. military sank an Iranian warship off Sri Lanka’s coast in a submarine strike, three U.S. officials told Reuters on Wednesday.

The attack triggered a distress call, prompting Sri Lanka’s navy to launch a search and rescue operation in the Indian Ocean, rescuing 32 sailors and recovering several bodies.
