DOE DG, deputy to be charged as early as April 3, says MACC

Charges are expected to be filed against the director-general and deputy director-general of the Department of Environment (DOE) as early as Friday (April 3), according to Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki.

Speaking to reporters on Thursday (April 2), Azam confirmed that the necessary approvals have been obtained and the duo is likely to face trial at the Sessions Court in Kuala Lumpur, barring any last-minute delays, and did not elaborate further on the nature of the charges.

Regarding DOE leadership, he said the appointment of a new director-general falls under the Chief Secretary to the Government.
