Dewan Rakyat to debate RM1k fine on facemask regulation

Dewan Rakyat has allowed an emergency motion to debate the issue over the RM1,000 fine for flouting the mask-wearing rule.

Dr Kelvin Yii Lee Wuen (PH-Bandar Kuching) raised the motion in Dewan Rakyat on Monday under Order 18(1) calling for amendments to the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act to lower the current fine which was implemented on Aug 1.

Deputy Speaker Datuk Mohd Rashid Hasnon said that he would allow the matter to be debated at 2.30pm as Parliament's Special Chambers.
