Covid-19: Patients will be discharged even if they test positive after 14 days

Based on the latest guidelines issued by the World Health Organisation (WHO), Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the ministry will now allow Covid-19 positive patients who have completed their two-week treatment at hospitals to return home, even if their test results come back positive.

The health-director general explained that the WHO’s guidelines indicated that positive results from the polymerase chain reaction test on the 13th day could be due to residual fragments of the virus, which are no longer active.
