Covid-19: Another Malaysian with B117 strain detected, country records 3,391 new cases

The Health Ministry has confirmed that a man who just returned from the United Arab Emirates is the second Malaysian infected with the contagious B117 Covid-19 strain.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also reported that Malaysia recorded 3,391 new cases on Friday, bringing the total number of infections to 234,874.

Over the same 24-hour span, 19 people died due to the virus, bringing the overall death toll to 845 or a 0.4% fatality rate.
