Malaysia recorded a spike of 172 new Covid-19 cases as of 12pm on Monday, bringing the country’s total infections to 7,417.

Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said majority of the cases were detected at three immigration detention centres with 112 cases.

Thus far overall, 227 positive cases have been detected at the detention centres, involving non-Malaysians

Dr Noor Hisham also urged the public not to worry despite the spike. Malaysia has seen two-digit fresh cases over the past week, a sign of the nation breaking the chain of the virus.
