'Corporate mafia' ecosystem a complex web of organised crime, says Azam Baki

The so-called “corporate mafia” operates under the guise of legitimate frameworks to evade enforcement, backed by networks of professionals, says Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki.

Speaking at the MATF: Way Forward session on Thursday (April 2), Azam said the group represents a sophisticated form of organised crime, far more complex than conventional offences.

Later, Azam stressed to reporters the need for closer coordination among enforcement agencies, including MACC, police and the Inland Revenue Board, to combat corporate crime.
