Budget 2027: SMEs exempt from minimum wage hike for now, says Amir Hamzah

Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan says SMEs will be temporarily exempted from the minimum wage increase, while the government plans to introduce a minimum wage for semi-skilled workers as part of labour reforms.
Speaking at a press conference after Budget 2027 was tabled in the Dewan Rakyat on Friday (Oct 9), Amir Hamzah said the government had responded to feedback from businesses with cash flow support and tax cuts for SMEs.
