Budget 2027: Govt announces RM160mil package for gig workers

Around 600,000 e-hailing drivers and p-hailing riders are set to benefit from increased net income and better welfare protection under a RM160mil package to be implemented from 2027.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the package would be co-funded by the Government and Grab, covering increases in minimum income rates, assistance for vehicle maintenance and insurance costs, as well as contributions to the Social Security Organisation (Perkeso).
