Budget 2019: The business of the Government is not to be in business

Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng when tabling the Budget 2019 said the government should not meddle in the business sector and dominate the economy, adding that it would not be strategic if the government-linked investment companies were to compete against the private companies.

Lim also said the Ministry of Finance will set up a Special Task Force to evaluate the role and functions of statutory bodies owned by the ministry to reduce duplication of functions and involvement in areas where the private sector is competent.
