Big imbalance in organ transplant needs vs availability, says Dr Zaliha

Despite presently having 10,747 patients on the organ transplant waiting list, Malaysia only has 845 actual deceased donors, said Health Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa.

Dr Zaliha said there is a significant difference between the number of patients on the transplant waiting list against the amount of organ donors after death.

She told reporters after officiating the National Organ Donation Awareness Week at the National Cancer Institute in Putrajaya on Thursday (Sept 7).
