The Chinese Foreign Affairs Ministry on Thursday (Nov 17) said Beijing supported having "frank" exchanges as long as they were held on an equal basis, and that China-Canada relations should be based on equality and mutual respect, rather than condescending accusations to the other side.

The ministry said there were no elements of threat in the encounter between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at the G20 summit on Nov 15 over alleged leaks of their closed-door meeting.
