The Indonesian National Police said they had punished two officers who reportedly extorted a Japanese tourist for Rp 1 million (RM283) over a traffic violation in an incident that took place in Jembrana, Bali, in 2019.

“The police have taken strict action against the police officers,” quoted National Police spokesman Insp Gen Argo Yuwono as saying on Friday.

Police also said the officers had admitted to having committed the misconduct.

The Japanese tourist had posted a video of the officers extorting money from him in Dec 2019.
