US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth issued a video message on Nov 5 vowing to fight efforts in Congress to impeach him and defending the Iran war as “courageous and historic” after voters punished Republicans over it in the Nov 3 midterm elections.

President Donald Trump said Hegseth and Pentagon had done a "fantastic job" with the military operations conducted in Iran to prevent the country from having a nuclear weapon and help non-Iranian shipping in and out of the Strait of Hormuz.
