Asean must remain committed to centrality, neutrality, and non-alignment as it navigates global trade challenges, says Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz.
Speaking at a pre-media briefing on the Asean Economic Community Strategic Plan 2026–2030 on Friday (May 23), Zafrul stressed Malaysia’s commitment as Asean Chair and called for greater alignment and coordination within the bloc.
He noted that Asean and its dialogue partners reaffirmed support for a rules-based multilateral trading system and are confident the bloc is on track to become the world’s fourth-largest economy by 2030.
