Amendments to Whistleblower Protection Act to be tabled next year, says PM Anwar

Amendments to the Whistleblower Protection Act 2010 will be tabled in the Dewan Rakyat next year to clearly distinguish genuine whistleblowers from criminals exploiting the law, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said.
Speaking in the Dewan Negara on Tuesday (Dec 16), Anwar said the changes aim to close loopholes that allow corrupt individuals or hardened criminals to evade prosecution by claiming cooperation with authorities.
He stressed that whistleblower protection should not be applied indiscriminately or allow offenders to be portrayed as “heroes” after committing serious crimes.
