All Malaysian students must sit for SPM Bahasa Melayu, History papers, says Anwar

All Malaysian students, regardless of education stream, must sit for the SPM Bahasa Melayu and Malaysian History papers, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said.
Announcing the policy at the launch of the National Education Development Plan 2026–2035, Anwar said the requirement applies to international, religious and UEC streams as part of efforts to strengthen the national language and ensure a common foundation of national history.
He also stressed the need to improve English proficiency for economic competitiveness, while encouraging national schools to support the learning of additional languages such as Mandarin, Tamil and Arabic.
