1MDB’s first CEO Shahrol takes the witness stand

The first CEO of 1Malaysia Development Bhd Datuk Shahrol Azral Ibrahim Halmi was called to the witness stand at the Kuala Lumpur High Court on Monday afternoon in the 1MDB trial involving former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

Shahrol played a key role in 1MDB’s formative years.

Most of the fund’s major deals and borrowings took place during his watch at the sovereign fund.

They included the expensive acquisitions of power assets between 2012 and 2013.
