South Korea’s acting President Lee Ju-ho convened an emergency National Security Council (NSC) meeting on Friday (May 2), pledging to safeguard national security as he became the country’s third acting leader amid ongoing political and economic turmoil sparked by last year’s failed martial law attempt by ousted President Yoon Suk Yeol and sweeping U.S. tariffs.
