The Perak government has called for increased federal support to enhance infrastructure and drive industrial growth, particularly in key economic zones and the rare earth element (REE) sector.

Speaking at the closing of the Madani Rakyat programme at Lumut Waterfront on Sunday (June 15), Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad said the success of major projects like the Lumut Maritime Industrial City (LuMIC) depends heavily on robust transport infrastructure, including wider roads and an integrated rail network for both cargo and passengers.

He also urged the Federal Government to support the development of a midstream and downstream REE ecosystem in Perak, aiming to position the state as a regional hub for mineral processing and production.
