Six enforcement officers face corruption charges in connection with lorry protection racket

Six more enforcement officers from the Road Transport Department (RTD) and Land and Public Transport Commission (SPAD) were charged at the Butterworth Special Corruption Court on Wednesday with corruption involving over seventy thousand ringgit in connection with a lorry protection racket.

The five RTD and one SPAD enforcement officers, all based in Penang claimed trial to 63 charges under the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act 16 (a) and (B).

They are charged with accepting cash as an inducement to not take action against lorry drivers who committed road offences.
