A special panel set up by the Penang state government to probe into the Oct 19, 2018 landslide in Bukit Kukus that killed nine foreign workers and injured four others revealed on Wednesday that the Penang Island City Council (MBPP) and three other parties involved in the construction of an elevated road had not adhered to engineering best practices.

Deputy Chief Minister I Ahmad Zakiyuddin Abdul Rahman, who led the panel, said the main contractor Yuta Maju Sdn Bhd, engineer consultant GEA (M) Sdn Bhd, and independent checker G&P Professional Sdn Bhd have been blacklisted and barred from obtaining future projects from the state government.
