Former Tabung Haji chairman Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim has claimed the two police reports lodged against him and several other former senior managers over the alleged misuse of a charity fund’s money for politically-linked activities were made with malicious intentions.
Speaking to reporters in Parliament on Monday, Abdul Azeez explained that during his tenure as chairman, depositor funds were never used to manage welfare activities as mandated through the Tabung Haji Foundation (YTH) memorandum, that the over RM22mil was collected by YTH from various sources, including corporate contributions, a special allocation by the government and from Umno.
Azeez said he was disappointed with the action of the new Tabung Haji management, that they did not use the proper standard operating procedure (SOP) to clear up the confusion, and also did not give him the opportunity to explain the actual situation.
