PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim says Malaysia must not bow down to international pressure over lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) issues.

Although the country has to take into consideration the concerns of the international community, he stressed that foreigners did not have any right to dictate terms on the issue.

He was commenting on US actor George Clooney who appeared on a talk show hosted by Ellen DeGeneres that the boycott against Brunei was a "warning shot" to Indonesia and Malaysia, should they consider introducing the death penalty for homosexuality.

Malaysia does not have laws against homosexuality but criminalises unnatural sex under the Penal Code.
