Japan's ambassador to Malaysia, Hiroshi Oka, thanked Malaysian authorities for their "care and support" for badminton world number one Kento Momota and other Japanese players after they were injured in a pre-dawn vehicle collision on the Maju Expressway on Monday.

He spoke to the press after visiting the players at Putrajaya Hospital with Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad.

Dr Dzulkefly said the four were in stable condition and would be discharged once hospital officials were satisfied they were fit to be released.
