Govt exempts cabotage on foreign vessels for undersea cable maintenance

Transport Minister Anthony Loke said foreign vessels involved in operations to repair undersea cables will be exempted from obtaining an endorsement from the Malaysian Shipping Association.

This came into effect on 1st April, 2019 under the Merchant Shipping Ordinance 1952.

Currently, there is only one vessel performing undersea cable maintenance.
