Associate professor Dr Tan Ching Seong created a social enterprise called iCycle Malaysia that uses apps and barcodes to track recycled waste.

It also rewards users with redeemable points when they throw their recyclables into one of its bins.

For his efforts, Dr Tan is recognised as one of the 10 winners of Star Golden Hearts Award 2019, an annual award that celebrates everyday Malaysian unsung heroes.
