EC: Only courts have power to act against allegations of power abuse

The Election Commission is powerless to act against allegations of power abuse reported during the on-going campaign for the Rantau by-election.

Its chief Azhar Azizan Harun said only the courts had jurisdiction in this asked to comment on a statement by Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng who, while campaigning in Kuala Sawah last Saturday, was reported to have hinted that the re-routed East Coast Rail may run through Negri Sembilan, if the project is continued.
