Driver, vehicle owner liable for unlicenced underage driving, says Dr Wee

Both the driver and vehicle owner will be held responsible in cases of underage driving and driving without a licence, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

The Transport Minister said that on Sunday (May 8) when commenting on the case of a 16-year-old student who drove a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV), ramming into two grass cutters and killing one of them in Sungai Petani, Kedah on Saturday, added that in case of injuries, the responsible party will face serious consequences.

Dr Wee noted that it was similar when it came to certain micromobility vehicles that have been banned from the roads.
