Covid-19 pandemic spurs Malaysia’s home-based education

In his Teacher’s Day address on Saturday, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said that because of the Covid-19 pandemic, Malaysian schools have been forced to close to prevent the spread of the virus.

He said during the nationwide movement control order, schools have been encouraged to introduce home-based learning for students to continue to pursue education.

He said when reopened, schools would have to adhere to standard operating procedures such as social distancing, monitoring the arrival and movement of students and practising cleanliness.

He also announced Nor Hainei Abu Bakar and Aminudin Adam as the winners of this year's National Teacher Award and National Educational Leader Award.
