The Attorney General said the Rome Statute cannot be used against the King even if the Armed Forces commits heinous crimes because the Yang di-Pertuan Agong is a constitutional monarch.

Tommy Thomas cited the example of former British Prime Minister Tony Blair who was asked to be prosecuted in the ICC over atrocities of the British forces in Iraq but Queen Elizabeth II was not dragged in as she is a constitutional monarch.

He said this during a forum on the Rome Statute at University of Malaya on Saturday.
