Senate expected to pass Bill for stiffer drink driving penalties next week

Transport Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong said his ministry hopes that the Road Transport (Amendment) Bill 2020, which addresses the issue of driving under the influence, will be approved by Dewan Negara next week.
Speaking to reporters after launching the Celebrate Responsibly campaign organised by Sin Chew Daily together with Carlsberg Malaysia on Friday, Dr Wee said once the Bill comes into effect, the ministry will have a multiple pronged approach to address the issue once and for all.
