At a press conference in Putrajaya on Tuesday (April 7), Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah clarified that a viable vaccine to protect against the Covid-19 disease is at least a year away.
Dr Noor Hisham however added that what is important is that Malaysia is included as part of a global research effort launched by the World Health Organisation (WHO) to start drug trials for Covid-19.
When asked to comment on whether the Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) vaccine could be deployed against Covid-19, Dr Noor Hisham said there was no conclusive evidence to support it.
