Bukit Aman: Emergency lanes not a place to stop and have a nap

Stationary vehicles in emergency lanes are among the reasons for fatal road accidents, says the Bukit Aman Traffic Investigations and Enforcement Department.
Its principle assistant director Supt Dr Bakri Zainal Abidin said on the sidelines of Op Perdagangan at the Duta toll plaza on Saturday night that many drivers, particularly lorry drivers, often stop in the emergency lane without any signs to warn other road users.
Supt Bakri said police have so far issued 43 summonses to commercial vehicle drivers, mainly lorry drivers, who stop in emergency lanes in the second phase of Op Perdagangan which runs from Dec 5 to 9.
