An investigation into a video clip allegedly showing a police officer receiving bribes from a group of Myanmar workers on a bus at a border checkpoint Thailand is underway.
The short clip was posted on a Facebook page registered under a Myanmar labour organisation.
It is believed that the alleged incident took place on a bus when it was pulled over at a checkpoint in Tak for inspecting the Myanmar passengers' travel documents.
The video’s caption is written in Burmese and was translated to Thai.
It said the bribe-taking incident occurred on 13 May 2017 when work permits expire combined with "starving Thai policemen".
The video, which was just over a minute long, had almost 900,000 views as of May 16, two days after it was posted.
It was shared over 8,000 times and received over 8,000 responses, including Likes.
The Myanmar labour organisation has lodged a complaint with the Thai authorities.
However, the Thai government has not given their comments over the video as of the evening of May 16.
