Hazing may be a common ritual for many university freshmen but one varsity in Phitsanulok, Thailand uses a different approach from the typically embarrassing or cruel activities usually associated with it.
At Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna, senior students chose to teach new students how to plant rice in the rice field as part of their orientation.
Over 500 students took part in the activity which aims to show students’ gratitude to Thai farmers, whom many regard as the country's backbone for their contributions.
In the past, certain hazing practices received heavy criticism by the Thai media and public.
